Key for the identification of British Salpingidae

The species of this family may be found under bark or in the small branches of trees and hedgerow shrubs. The adults and larvae feed on other insects which are living on wood and fungi. Aglenus brunneus is an exception to this - it is found in stored foodstuffs.
