Soil Mesofauna: a four-day course on ecology and identification

Friday, March 27, 2015 to Monday, March 30, 2015
This four-day course will give you an overview of soil ecology, provide you with skills and experience in identifying soil organisms to various taxonomic levels, and provide you with the information you need to collect, examine, identify and record soil organisms. In particular the course concentrates on Springtails (Collembola) and Soil Mites (Acari), but the entire soil fauna is introduced and attendees have some latitude to pursue what interests them most.

Earthworm Society of Britain Field Meeting

Saturday, March 21, 2015 to Sunday, March 22, 2015
Field-based earthworm sampling of a range of sites and habitats plus lab-based identification. Experienced recorders will be on hand to provide training and guidance to anyone new to earthworm recording. The aim of the day is to introduce the method for sampling for the National Earthworm Recording Scheme. Attendees are welcome to bring earthworms from their own gardens or other places and we will happily help with identification. Upon completion of the course attendees will be added to the list of recorders for the National Earthworm Recording Scheme.
